Denture Options We Offer
In this video, Dr. Tracie Battle explains the different denture options available today and how each one compares in terms of stability and function.
At our office, we offer four different denture options. Each is designed differently and offers a different level of stability and functionality.
The first option is a traditional denture. This type does not use dental implants for support and is the least stable of the four options. It rests on the gums and can move while eating or speaking.
The second option is a snap-in denture. This denture connects to mini dental implants via small snap-on attachments. You can remove it at home to clean it, then snap it back into place. Once secured, it stays much more stable than a traditional denture.
The third option is a semi-removable denture, often referred to as All-on-Four or Fixed-on-Six. With this option, the denture is secured to implants and cannot be removed by the patient. You would come into the office about every six months, and the dentist would remove it, clean it, and place it back in position.
The fourth option is a Roundhouse Bridge. This is a single, permanent restoration that is fixed in place. You do not remove it at all. It is designed to stay in permanently, and only a dentist would remove it if necessary.
Compared with traditional dentures, implant-retained dentures are more stable, reliable, and durable. The implants serve as a support system, distributing chewing pressure and making the denture feel more secure.
For many patients, this makes implant-supported dentures a better choice than a traditional denture.
